Directions

Please note that Port Largo is a very busy canal with many commercial fishing, snorkeling, and dive charters. Monitor VHF channel 16 for security calls at the Jetty and Crash Corner. All private vessels should also make a security call on channel 16 both inbound and outbound at the Jetty and Crash Corner. The Marina Del Mar Dock Office monitors channel 16.

  • From the North: Follow Hawk’s Channel to Green Marker #35 (Mosquito Bank); with Green Marker #35 on your stern go due west to Red Marker #2 (FL R 2.5sec 16FT 4M “2”). Coordinates for the Red #2 are N25*04.450 W80*25.652
  • From the South: Follow Hawk’s Channel to Green Marker #37 (off Rodriguez Key); with Green Marker #37 on your stern go due north to Red Marker #2 (Fl R 2.5sec 16FT 4M “2). Coordinates for the Red Marker #2 are N25*04.450 W80*25.652
  • From Marker #2: Monitor Channel 16 on the VHF. Head straight to Red Day Marker #4, then to Red Day Marker #6 and Red Day Marker #8 (remember to keep these markers close aboard on your starboard). As you approach Red Marker #8 you will see a lime green house on starboard and a rock jetty to port; Port Largo Canal entrance is between these landmarks. NOTE: there is a 4 1/2 foot spot on the approach at low tide. Contact the Dock Master for tide information. Once inside the entrance the canal carries 18-20 feet of water. Continue straight ahead until you must make a 90 degree turn to port. This 90 degree port turn is called “crash corner” AND is a blind corner. Be sure to listen to the VHF for any outbound/inbound traffic. Continue straight down the last canal until the canal bears to port and you arrive in the Marina Del Mar turning basin. Slips are numbered with red numbers on white dock boxes in the center of the slips on the dock. Slip assignments can be on your port or starboard.
  • Driving Directions: Follow US Route 1 from Florida City (mile marker 126) down to Key Largo. At mile marker 100, turn left at the Holiday Inn (next to the Valero Gas Station/Dunkin Donuts). Make your first left onto Caribbean Drive and follow about 1/8 mile to Marina Del Mar (on left). See Dockmaster in his office inside Marina Del Mar.
